In 1998, Tom Monaghan sold the company to Bain Capital, and after years of success, the company went public on the stock exchange in 2004.

History Of Domino’s:

Tom Monaghan and his brother James Monaghan were ordinary individuals without much money to invest. While Tom had a business idea in mind, his brother worked a full-time job as a postman in a private firm. Tom’s decision was to buy a small pizza store near Eastern University, naming it DomiNick’s. The deal was sealed at $500 as a down payment, with Tom borrowing an additional $900 to complete the purchase. They had plans to split the work and hours to manage the store, but James was unwilling to leave his job as a postman.

As time went on, Tom purchased two more stores and hired staff for pizza delivery in the same county. He planned to maintain the brand name as DomiNick’s. However, due to U.S. law, the original owner objected to keeping the same name. One day, an employee returned from a pizza delivery and suggested the name Domino’s. Tom liked the name and the ideas presented by his employee, leading him to rename the business as Domino’s Pizza Inc. After numerous efforts and struggles, the company began to grow rapidly and decided on a widespread expansion. As the company expanded, Domino’s opened thousands of new restaurants and franchises worldwide.
